What services does Target Power Generators offer?

We specialise in the manufacture, supply, installation, and servicing of diesel and petrol generators.

This includes custom-built generators, spare parts, fuel tanks, and technical support.

Unlike most of our competitors, we keep physical stock of generators — primarily diesel. At any one time, we maintain strong stock levels ranging from 10–600 kVA.

You’re welcome to view the machines at our facilities in Carlton, North Yorkshire, and our team will be happy to walk you through them. Visit us.

We operate from our main facility in Carlton, Selby, North Yorkshire, UK, with an additional location in Hampshire.

Generator Knowledge & Technical Insights:

Do generators use batteries?

Yes, generators include batteries for starting and control. Regular charging is important for standby systems.

Prime power is for continuous, long-term use — great for off-grid setups. Such as our Ferbo Prime Advanced Diesel Generators.

Standby power activates only during grid outages, and is meant for short-term use. Such as our Ferbo Standby Select Diesel Generators.

This occurs when running a generator at low load for too long, causing fuel residue in the exhaust. Load testing helps prevent this.

Generators primarily produce AC (alternating current). Some also have DC outputs for charging batteries.

An ATS switches your power source from the mains to your generator automatically when there’s a power outage.

Load testing simulates real-world usage to ensure your generator performs properly, while also preventing issues like wet stacking.

It allows two or more generators to share electrical loads evenly, especially in systems where redundancy is key.

Resistive simulates everyday loads (like lights, heaters).

Reactive mimics industrial loads (motors, compressors) for more complex testing.

kVA stands for apparent power — the total capacity of the generator, including both real and reactive power.

Reactive power supports voltage levels in inductive equipment like motors. It doesn’t do “work” but is essential for function.

This is the usable power that runs your appliances and equipment — it’s what you actually consume.

Power factor is the ratio between real power and apparent power. It affects how efficiently your generator handles electrical loads.
