Hyundai 7.25kVA / 5.8KW Single Phase Diesel Generator – DHY8000SELR
The Hyundai DHY8000SELR Diesel generator is a budget-friendly standby diesel generator, with long running tank. It’s suitable for home, light construction, or general small business use. The generator is easy to start with its electric start function; however, if needed, you can also start the generator remotely. The generator comes equipped with a 25-litre / 25-hour fuel tank, giving you 25 hours of runtime.
Power Rating Of The DHY8000SELR
The small diesel generator has a rated power of 5KW / 6.3kVA and a maximum power of 5.8KW / 7.25kVA. It produces a maximum rated current of 26A and a continuous current of 23.9A. The voltage is 230V single-phase, and its frequency is 50HZ, meaning it’s perfect for the UK & European markets.

What Sockets Does The DHY8000SELR Have?
Although this Diesel generator is small, it’s not short of connectivity. It comes with 1 x 115V/16A & 1 x 115V/32A yellow socket and 1 x 230V/32A blue socket, giving the operator a choice of connectivity.
How Quiet Is The Hyundai DHY8000SELR?
Typically enclosed 3000rpm diesel generators are not overly quiet; they do emit some noise. However, Hyundai boasts a lower noise level compared to its competitors, achieving 70dBA at 7m. This is due to the thicker steel and higher grade of soundproofing the enclosure has. If you bear in mind the average truck produces 65dBA noise at 7m, if the generator is outside and you are in your workshop, you’ll hardly hear it running at all.

Hyundai makes fantastic small generator diesel engines. The D500 1-cylinder engine is no exception. The D500 engine is air-cooled, has a displacement of 452cc, and produces 12HP. The speed is regulated by a reliable mechanical governor. Safety features include low oil alert and automatic engine shutdown.
A Little Bit About The Alternator
The alternator is protected by an AVR (automatic voltage regulator) protection system. The D450/500-S01-4 has a PF of 1 and couples nicely with the D500 diesel engine.

Can The Hyundai DHY8000SELR Be Started Automatically?
Yes, the generator can be partnered with an automatic transfer switch. In the event of a power outage, the automatic transfer switch will turn on the diesel generator; when the power restores, the automatic transfer switch will turn off the DHY8000SELR again. It’s a true standby diesel generator.
