Diesel Generator For Agriculture
In January 2024 Target Power Generators were asked to provide a 100Kva sound-proofed diesel generator to a Farm in North Yorkshire. This generator was to provide power for an outdoor baling machine during the winter harvest months, so we liaised with the customer and found the best product for him would be a FE110 model generator, featuring a Perkins engine and a Mecc Alte alternator.
Selecting The Right Auto Transfer Switch
The job also required an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), as the customer required the ability to turn on the machine from a remote location, so for this we used a UK manufactured ATS, including a 160 Amp ABB breaker. Due to the final location of the machine we changed the location of the ATS, as it would have been difficult to access if we had mounted it as normal. This was a challenge to find an alternative suitable location for mounting, but after discussion with the customer we were able to run a cable and find a perfect place for the ATS.Â
We also added an exhaust extension due to the location of the machine, as smoke was to be vented further out of an out-building for safety, but we were easily able to modify this at our facility.
Generator Delivery & Placement
The entire job was completed within two weeks, including delivery and placement on-site. This itself came with it’s own problems, and we found we had to acquire a specialist trailer to transport the generator onto the farm site, as weather had been particularly poor for some time prior to delivery, and the ground was very uneven. After acquiring a more suitable trailer to deal with the terrain, this proved perfect when we got on-site and we were able to unload and position the generator ease.
Altogether the job was very successful and the customer was left very satisfied with the product and services he had received from Target Power Generators. The product and additional modifications were catered directly to specifications provided, and proved ideal for the end agricultural application, and with an ongoing service contract on the generator, we look forward to revisiting site in the future to maintain the machine.
