Recently, we supplied a TB22-1 20 kVA single phase diesel generator for a client based in Nottingham (Nottingham Off Road).
The customer was urgently in need of power, so we had to provide a solution quickly. Fortunately, we keep a stock of diesel generators, allowing us to advise on several suitable options promptly.
The primary product supplied was a 20 kVA single phase diesel generator. This generator, equipped with a Baudouin engine and Stamford alternator, is a TB22-1 model. It features a DataKom DK500 control system, which can be operated manually or set to auto-start mode.

Client Requirements
Nottingham Off Road Events approached us to supply a 20 kVA / 16 kW diesel generator. In addition to supplying the generator, they required assistance with installation. Initially, they were considering a Perkins UK diesel generator but ultimately chose the Baudouin TB22-1 due to its 4-year standby warranty.
Power Calculation
We assisted the client in calculating their power requirements. The off-grid café consumes 12 kW at peak times and 8 kW during off-peak times. To ensure fuel efficiency, which is optimal at 50-75% load, we selected a 20 kVA 16 kW diesel generator.
Soundproofing
Given the generator’s proximity to the café (only 2 meters away), it was crucial to minimize noise disturbance. We opted for a soundproof diesel generator. Target soundproof generator canopies are known for their low noise levels, making them some of the quietest on the market.
Delivery and Installation
The generator was delivered using a Hiab crane due to the challenging location, which required lifting the generator up a hill and positioning it 18 meters away. Our team of engineers ensured the generator was correctly placed.
Installation on-site was straightforward. We ran cables from the distribution board to the generator, using trunking to secure them, and connected the cables to the generator’s ABB breaker. The soundproof generator was then switched on to perform a live load test. This test involved restoring power to the café in sections to ensure everything was functioning correctly.
Commissioning and Maintenance
After the live load test, we commissioned the generator, confirming its safe operation. Additionally, we provided the customer with a spare parts package, as they intended to service the generator themselves. We also offer maintenance parts at a discount to our customers.
